Summer Growth: A Reflection on the Summer 2018 Branching Out Boston Program

New buds have been grown, new leaves unfurled, new tree rings added… the Boston Field Team certainly has “branched out”! First and foremost, we want to thank everyone who helped the summer 2018 Field Team have a successful season of landscape preservation. Special shout-outs to our park partners: Saugus Ironworks NHS, Adams NHP (especially for hosting us for the closing ceremony!), Roger Williams National Memorial, Peddocks Island, Frederick Law Olmsted NHS and Minute Man NHP.

This summer was filled with memories and valuable learning experiences. The Field Team demonstrated stamina and dedication to diverse projects through the heat of the summer. In the final two weeks of the program, the Field Team stepped up to prepare their own work schedule and take on leadership roles. This demonstrates impressive development in professionalism, leadership, autonomy, teamwork, and Social/Emotional Skills over the course of the summer. Plus, we had fun and celebrated the end of the summer with an overnight trip to the Highland Center in New Hampshire.

Best of luck to these amazing Field Team members as they head into their next step — school, college, work, and more!
