Recruiting for Branching Out

Hello guys, Its Stephen here and I am going to tell you about all the things we have been doing throughout this winter season here at the Branching Out Program. Though the program has become rather quiet with the holidays and the cold winter deciding to come back as cold as always, we have all been busy preparing for our recruitment period. We have finished our applications and they are now on our website under the apply tab for all of the public to see, fill out and send in. That being said… if you know anyone of the ages of 16 to 24 that is looking for a summer job; it wouldn’t hurt to point them in our direction.

Along with our application we have worked tirelessly to inform the masses of this great and amazing opportunity that is the Branching out program. We here at the Branching Out Program are dedicated to our recruitment efforts and could not bear to think of the possibility that a youth could missout on such a life changing opportunity that could influence their career path like it has for many before them. So we hit to the streets and hand delivered many of our recruitment packages to local organizations throughout all of the Boston area.  In the office we worked hard to develop a list of libraries, community centers, and organizations (such as the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club) where we could mail our recruitment packages with flyers and applications so they could put them up for all of their youth to see.

We have also started attending Job fairs, with the first one being at Boston Arts Academy High School. We met many young people eager to work over the summer and we can only hope that they consider us as one of their options. There are more job fairs on our radar over the next couple months and we hope that we can pique the interest of some youth that are interested in the type of work we do here at Branching Out. Our School year ambassadors are also working hard and will be holding resume workshops and meeting youth where hopefully they can advertise how great the program is and help us with our recruitment.

The school year is flying by and before you know it the summer will be right around the corner. We are excited to see who will sign up and to meet our possible future field team in our interviews. Though it is never easy to pick only fifteen youth for our program we cannot wait to assemble the team and look forward to working with them this summer.DSC_0174

  1. Great job getting the word out! This is such an important effort to make sure that folks are aware of this program. Good luck with the upcoming job fairs.
