Branching Out Reunion Camping Trip!

Last weekend, participants from the 2013 Branching Out summer program gathered for an overnight camping reunion at Ponkapoag Pond in the DCR Blue Hills Reservation.

The weekend was filled with hiking and exploring the trails throughout the reservation learning about forest ecology, succession, and how to navigate through the forest using a map and compass.

The group explored the areas surrounding the pond which included a visit to a rare atlantic white cedar bog and climbed to the top of Great Blue Hill for a view the Boston skyline and surrounding area.

Everyone enjoyed spending time outdoors enjoying the last of the fall foliage and catching up with one another sharing stories from the summer.
